Plantation Skies http://flic.kr/p/osJEuf This is a frame from some failed startrails. I was neither facing south, nor had I factored into the cloud which destroyed the shots.

However, I quite liked the composition. I think it works.

I should be out tonight doing some more.

Gympie Gold http://flic.kr/p/oqx5gu A winter sunset from my hometown. I really like how the road brings you right the way through the creek and up to the bridge.

Quite chuffed with this result.

A minute exposure just before the colour really exploded in the clouds.

Would be great to have a few more sunsets like this on the weekend.

Deep Creek Viaduct, Gympie http://flic.kr/p/oqoZxr Sunset under/over/around the Deep Creek viaduct in my hometown. The rail line that travels over the viaduct is hopefully soon to be back up and running the local heritage railway, running steam train tours in to the Mary Valley.

It is not often I take the initiative to go and look locally for a few shots. I was lucky enough to happen to snag a fantastic sunset to go with it.

Toolara Panorama http://flic.kr/p/nYDDKG A panoramic image from the Toolara Pine Plantation where we first pulled up to survey the scene. We didn’t need to move far from here.

Hopefully some clear skies this weekend will let me get a few more!

Winter Skies http://flic.kr/p/nWqgA6 We shot out last night to try our hand at Milky Way photography. I had been hanging out to go and give it another go, however the clouds had not been kind. Winter is without a doubt upon us. The fog rolled in shortly after this, resulting in my lens fogging up and ruining the next half dozen or so shots before we headed home.

We really struggled to see the Milky Way with the naked eye given the Moon phase. The moon however did give us great light in the foreground.

This image is 5 landscape orientation shots stitch together in a portrait format. Individual images were processed in Lightroom, stitched in PTGui, into Photoshop for some distortion correct and local contrast.

The Dickabram Bridge http://flic.kr/p/o7ds3C A family picnic on a particularly windy day. I think I would like to shoot some milky way shots around here one day. Just feels that little bit far away for a quick trip in the evening.

Pumestone Panorama II http://flic.kr/p/nNsyhQ Another Panorama of the Pumestone Passage taken from Bribie Island.

I want to go camping here and hope for a ripsnorter of a sunset over those mountains!

The Driveway http://flic.kr/p/o3wUdR Literally the one and only shot I took tonight. I am pretty happy with the result.

If anyone has any processing tips for great contrast in the sky I would be happy to hear it.

Base Camp http://flic.kr/p/nYqppK This was moreso a snapshot than a carefully composed shot, but I really like it nonetheless.

Had a great weekend out camping, will have to make an effort to get out and do it again one day soon.

The Gates of Haast http://flic.kr/p/nVtbxN Haast Pass, South Island, New Zealand.

An oldie, but one I have only recently processed.

Of Days Past http://flic.kr/p/nBv3rL The Retort House from the No 1 Scottish Mine in Gympie.

Apparently Mercury was separated from gold within the structure.

We shot out to photograph the stars, but without success given the clouds. We shot around here to have a go at this. The small break in the clouds letting the stars shine through makes this photo.

Milky Way Rising http://flic.kr/p/nRd8jp Sat on this photo for a while not happy with it, but with a couple of tweaks, I think it is a goer.

This is from Rainbow Beach on the Cooloola Coast. The light sources are, I suspect, Cooloola Cove (left of centre), Tin Can Bay, (right of centre) & Rainbow Beach (far right).

I was short on battery and wanted to take further shots at a different location. Had I had the opportunity again, I would shoot the foreground with a bit more exposure and a bit less noise. It could have benefited from letting the milky way rise a bit more too.

Pumestone Panorama http://flic.kr/p/nP9f1S This is a shot I have wanted to take for some time. I have only spent a bit over an hour on the Island, but would love to go back for a long weekend.

I really loved the light and clouds that were hanging around this day. It was a beautiful backdrop to a lovely wedding I had the privilege of being a part off.

Can anyone tell me anything about the shipwreck (I assume) in the middle of the scene.

The Fur-babies. http://flic.kr/p/nLw47m A nostalgic photo of the fur-babies.

Taken on some HP5+ out of some Canon EOS 35mm thing. Developed with a heap of dust sticking to the emulsion.
